This month's image is from Maira and Albert's wedding. The shot was taken just after the ceremony. One of our photographers, Michael, was riding in the front of the couple's 1967 Rolls Royce limo on the way to downtown Manhattan. Michael says that he was looking for a way to grab a shot of Maira and Albert, but there wasn't enough room in the vintage car for him to turn around, especially while the car was moving. So he pulled down the sun visor and found an antique mirror attached. The shot is actually a reflection (in more ways than one) of Maira and Albert's first moments together as husband and wife.
Bobbi and Mark - July 15, 2006
Summertime is always the perfect time of year to travel to the eastern end of Long Island. While the South Fork is the hotspot, the North Fork offers a relaxing alternative. The climates differ between the two enough to make the North Fork ideal for growing grapes. Long Island’s wine-making region, as it’s known, is an inviting and special place to host a wedding. Bobbi and Mark chose an actual vineyard for their special day and we couldn’t have been happier with their choice. The flowers were in full bloom, the sky blue and the weather almost perfect. Bobbi and Mark are truly genuine people and were a joy to be with.

Monet and Charles - July 10, 2006
Known as one of the best locations on the island, Oheka Castle never disappoints. Monet and Charles knew this fact when they selected Oheka for their wedding day. While it was a hot one, we managed to avoid spending too much time outdoors during the hottest part of the day. The location is so regal and the ceremony in the formal gardens was a photographer’s dream.

The entire event was held at the estate and made for a quick transition to the cocktail hour and reception. There was no shortage of unique spots to grab photos of the bridal party and Monet and Charles’ families. We kept a close eye on the sun’s movement and perfectly timed our shots alone with Monet and Charles. The warm glow of the setting sun through the long line of oak trees made for some special moments. Monet and Charles were relaxed in front of the camera and the images definitely reflect this.

Maira and Albert - July 8, 2006
Maira and Albert - what can we say - there was definitely something special in the air today. They are so obviously in love and were a pleasure to be with and photograph. Their day began at the W Court Hotel in midtown. Maira and Albert covertly and without meeting, gave each other heartfelt and surprising gifts. An Hermes scarf for her and Bulgari for him, among others.

The guy’s room featured plenty of Crown Royal and good cheer, while the girls sipped champagne and got dressed in a room with one of the best views of the Chrysler building.

The church was the very ornate and magnificent St John Baptiste. After the ceremony, we all piled into the limos and zipped downtown for some real cool NY street-scene shots. The rest of their day was made even better as a result of their wedding planner, Elaine (from Exquisite Events). Elaine put together an awesome room at The West Side Loft which featured just about everything from a wine-tasting station, to a cigar bar and more. The band was one of the best Latin bands we’ve heard and played Salsa and Rhumba until everyone dropped. We grabbed a few rooftop shots at night and before we knew it, it was over.

Cynthia and Jay - July 7, 2006
Well, the first weekend in July was jam-packed. We kicked off the four-wedding weekend with Cynthia and Jay. They first met each other as a result of a special delivery – Jay was delivering dry-cleaning and got his bride in return. They were a lot of fun to work with and their day couldn’t have gone better. Actually, there was a hospital visit earlier in the day, but it didn’t get in the way of the proceedings.

Cynthia chose a spectacular gown and the flowers were truly beautiful. The reception was held at The North Ritz Club in Syosset. Cynthia and Jay’s taste for finer things was echoed in their selections of details like the table cards, favors and place settings. We managed to get Cynthia to lay in the grass for a nice intimate shot with Jay. (She’s actually sitting on a tablecloth)

The dessert “room” was to die for; every imaginable dessert from hand-stuffed cannolis to bananas foster to chocolate and vanilla fountains. The guys enjoyed a few fine cigars on what was a perfect summer night.

This month's image is from Monica and Jedd's wedding which was held at Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, NY. The castle property includes 62 acres of lush landscape. The shot was taken just after the ceremony. We love capturing moments like this where the newly married couple experience their first moments together as husband and wife.

The warm glow of the sun indicates our perfect timing for the shot - just about an hour before sunset. Images like this help us drive home the importance of scheduling appropriate times and locations for your casual portraits.
Izabela and Grzegorz - June 24, 2006
This weekend’s wedding was unique. The ceremony and the reception were entirely Polish. Polish was the spoken language of the day. The bride and groom, Izabela and Grzegorz, were of course Polish; and it was fun to be a part of their lively culture. It rained most of day, but again we lucked out when the rain stopped just long enough for us to grab some shots in front of the church, both before and after the ceremony.

The reception was held at The Victorian in New Jersey and was a bit rowdy. Maybe the scotch and vodka bottles on every table helped the mood along. The band played a mix of traditional and modern Polish music and everyone packed the floor most of the night. The garter toss was anything but traditional. Here’s a shot of the winning single guy applying the garter to the winning single girl with his teeth.

Alyson and Jacob
Alyson and Jacob's wedding reception was held at the Glen Island Harbor Club at the edge of the Hudson River in New Rochelle, New York. Beautiful sunsets are commonplace at waterfront locations like the Harbor Club. The scene at Alyson and Jacob's wedding was like no other. They met at the peak of "golden hour" and we were there to capture every moment.

We recently finished editing their video and thought we'd give you a peek at it. Click here to launch a sample.
Eleni and Charlie - June 18, 2006
One of the exciting things about photographing weddings week-after-week is witnessing the diversity of cultures in the New York metro area. Eleni and Charlie’s wedding was rich with Greek family traditions. Their ceremony was beautiful and was Greek Orthodox throughout. Eleni looked thrilled to be getting married and never lost her happy smile.

The reception, held at The Inn at Fox Hollow, featured Greek music, lots of fresh seafood and hours of group dancing. The tradition of throwing money at the bride and groom on the dance floor was fun to watch and photograph.

Monica and Jedd - June 10, 2006
There are a few locations in the tri-state area that are just unlike any other. Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, NY is one of the best. The stone castle is located on the banks of the Hudson River on 62 acres of picturesque landscape. Monica and Jedd’s wedding was held at Lyndhurst on a breezy but perfect June afternoon. The ceremony was held in the Rose Garden, which was in peak bloom.

The cocktail hour was held on the porch and lawn surrounding the castle itself and the reception was held in a tent inside the courtyard of the carriage house. Fabulous Foods did a fantastic job with the catering and managing of the event. Monica and Jedd were a lot of fun and their friends and family were a lively bunch. We managed to get some great shots in the short window of time we had just after the ceremony.
