Year end 2006 - Thanks for the memories
Well, as the sun sets on another wedding season for Bliss Productions NY, Jerry, Michael, Marek, Elliot, John and Ryan would all like to wish you the very best for the holiday season and a happy, healthy 2007. We are thankful for having met each of our couples and as much as you say we have touched your lives, you have certainly touched ours as well. We like to think that the memories that we capture will be viewed and admired for generations to come.

Our holiday break is short this year as we have to look forward to a few weddings in February and March. So we will take a brief siesta, fine tune our equipment, purchase a few upgrades here and there, and be ready to tackle our 2007 season with vigor. We are excited about how things are going here at Bliss and invite you to stay tuned to this journal to share in the excitement with us.

Anita and David - November 18, 2006
Anita and David's wedding day began with a few minor hiccups, which were enough for us to pay close attention to the dwindling winter daylight. They thankfully met each other prior to the ceremony and in just enough time to grab some intimate portraits of them on the grounds of the Swan Club in Roslyn, NY; the location of both their ceremony and reception. While the Swan Club is known for its beautiful gardens in the warmer months, we still managed to find beauty in the winter setting as well. It helped that Anita and David were able to relax and give us some great expressions to work with.

Ronni and Glenn - November 5, 2006 (NYC Marathon Day)
A great day for a marathon, an even better day for a wedding. We must admit, we were a little anxious about getting in and out of Ronni’s home in Brooklyn because she lives just a few blocks from the main route for the NYC Marathon. Thankfully, we fared pretty well with traffic and parking.

Once Ronni’s hair and makeup were complete and she climbed into her beautiful dress, it was on to the NY Botanical Garden for the ceremony and reception. The couple chose the intimate Snuff Mill building hidden deep in the property and alongside a creek and adjacent to the rose garden. They met each other before the ceremony for photo purposes, as is typical of weddings where the ceremony and reception are held in the same location. The trees were in full color and the weather was not too chilly. We really enjoyed the day and got some fabulous images.

November 2006 - Web site cover photo
This month's image is from Kristin and Curtis' wedding in Bermuda. The shot was taken just before sunset at Elbow Beach. The image captures the spectacular location and setting of their special day.

Rosemary and Thomas - October 28, 2006
While weather comes up frequently in our blog discussions, we couldn't talk about Ro and Tom's wedding day without noting the weather. It rained buckets pretty much right up until Ro's limo arrived at the historic church on the campus of Fordham University. In fact, the rain stopped briefly as Ro exited her parent's house and then kicked up again heavily during her trip to Fordham.

After the ceremony, the skies were clear and the sunset couldn't be better. This was important as Ro and Tom's reception was held at the picturesque New York Botanical Gardens. One of our favorite photos of the year is this one of Ro and Tom walking the grounds at sunset.

Arcenia and Andrew - Engagement photo shoot
Arcenia and Andrew's engagement photos were shot by Jerry and Marek at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, NY. We chose a late afternoon time frame for the shoot, which worked out perfectly. The Arboretum’s grounds are a diverse shooting environment and we took full advantage of the dynamic location. It helped that Arcenia and Andrew are truly in love and not camera shy at all.

Lisa and Frank - October 22, 2006
Lisa and Frank’s wedding day was a nice mild fall day. Lisa got ready at the quaint Roslyn Claremont Hotel and the couple arranged to meet before their ceremony at the Swan Club. Meeting before the ceremony is becoming more common as many couples want to reserve time to enjoy their cocktail hour. When their ceremony and reception are at the same venue, this becomes even more necessary, in order to allow enough time for photos. We were grateful for the time we had with Lisa and Frank prior to their ceremony and their relaxed mood made for some great photos.

Kristin and Curtis - October 17, 2006
Nothing like a trip to Bermuda to break up the busy month of October. What a great time of year to escape to the middle of the Atlantic. Kristin and Curtis’ wedding was held at the Coco Reef resort in the Elbow Beach area of Bermuda. This trip was a family affair for our photographer Michael, as Kristin is his cousin.

Kristin arrived early on her wedding day having spent the previous few days on Royal Carribean's Explorer of the Sea cruise ship. She got ready in her waterfront suite at the Coco Reef Resort, just steps from her beautiful ceremony area. The weather was perfect and their intimate gathering of family and close friends was unforgettable.

Lisa and John - Engagement photo shoot
John is one of our videographers and Lisa was recently a maid of honor at Jessica and Brett's wedding. Jerry shot their engagement photos this past weekend at the Jersey Shore. John and Lisa's love for each other and love of life is evident in their photos.

Occasionally, as our schedule permits, we book engagment photo sessions. We find that they give us a chance to get to know our couples and the photos usually make their way onto a table at the wedding reception.

Kate and Brian - October 8, 2006
This fall season is just whizzing by and it was a nice change of pace to spend some time all the way out on eastern Long Island in Montauk this weekend. Kate and Brian’s wedding day was held at the exclusive Gurney’s Inn and Spa.

The ceremony and cocktail hour were held outdoors and it was a picture-perfect October day; mild enough for beach photos at sunset without a jacket. Beach locations don’t always work out; high sun at midday and windy conditions can make photography extremely difficult. For Kate and Brian, the time of day was ideal and there was no wind to speak of. It also helps to have a beautiful bride and a handsome groom!
